How about 6 hour workshop in various engineering colleges in India.
The Purpose of this workshop is to give general purpose Introduction on FOSS/Linux/OpenStandards The material (Poster / Booklet / Book / CD / DVDs / Presentations / Speaker Session etc ) will be same at each engineering college. So organising such Intro workshop will be a routine work and can be done by some company at mass level at very low cost.
I want a team which sit somewhere in office or college or their own rooms to generate the content collaboratively so that this "Trigger Workshop" can occur at any place by anyone.
We can plan and discuss what can be done in 6 hour.
Even If we unable to create workshop by whatsoever reason, I will be able to distribute to 10000+ college in India via IIT and MHRD but we need this FOSS KIT as this stage. I am asking for contribution. please come forward as this contribution will help lakh of student to use FOSS.
The same is true for FOSS Poster which will be part of FOSS KIT. FOSS poster will be containing A1 sheet sized posters to giving knowledge on FOSS tools.

Let assume there are 1000 Colleges in NCR, and If we want that there should be atleast Intro Level workshop in all these 1000 colleges. how how this can be possible. I do not have clear answer to this question but one thing I have clear that pattern of these workshops and content will repeat everytime. So whynot sit and finalize these things. Now If we have content and whole pattern of workshop then we or somebody will be able to hire a dedicated persons who job will going and organizing workshop in one/two college. Because the repetition do not need good expertise thus we can lower down the cost. almost 3000 Rs per workshop. (1000 for two speaker = 15,000 per month salary, 2000 for content like booklet CDs etc). Not only I am trying to lower down the cost but This way we can increase number of "SPARK workshop" in a year - from 30 to 300 , even more.
I consider this as a great idea but today a huge number of student do not know FOSS exist and the benefits of FOSS. Many student do not know even after 5 year of industry experience. WHY ? Because nobody conducted any workshop in their college. This happen with me .. (I almost wasted 4 year of BTECH life)
Infact there are many student on the list who are good at FOSS/Linux were zero at some time ago. How they came to know about FOSS/Linux ? Because they attended some FOSS workshop by "ACCIDENT". I have good number of example on fingers. So WE NEED SPARK , If we/somebody else somehow organize workshop on FOSS/Linux then at-least 2 student out of 200 will start working on FOSS.
Today we DO NOT have FOSS in not even 100 colleges of India - See http://lug-iitd.org/FOSS_Representative_of_Indian_Colleges_and_Institutes
Workshop/Posters/Booklets are very good medium of spreading FOSS. So What make you think that this is not important idea or not doable. We can do at least something. we have enough student who can collaborate on wiki to generate content.
